10 Things That Every Girl Should Do Instead Of Getting Married In Her 20s

1. Rent A Bike & Take A Road Trip

Riding my motorbike around Leh, India

Annoyed with your friends flooding your Facebook newsfeed with honeymoon pictures? Rent a bike and wander alone to Leh.

I loved the visit to Leh via road from Manali. It was a wonderful experience to pass through many passes like Changla Pass, Baralanchla Pass, Lachulangla Pass, Khardungla Pass and many more. Khardungla pass is the highest motorable road and is 39 kms from Leh. Best time to visit is early in the morning as afterwards there truck traffic begins. When we reached pass at 7:30 am it was freezing cold there and could not stand there for much time. But enjoyed a lot.

2. Chase Your Hobbies

It’s time to stop procrastinating and just do what you love. Pursue your passion in photography at the Jim Corbett National Park.

“In search of the tiger, you must take lots of pictures at Corbett. One of the best national parks in India,”

3. Backpack Alone

One learns some of their best life lessons when living alone. Even if it’s for a month, take a backpacking trail across west India. Explore the untapped natural beauty of the western coast.

“One of the less frequented getaways is the union territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. While Daman boasts of some lovely Konkan beaches, unspoilt and breathtaking, Dadra tucked amidst the nature scores in its wildlife, simple living, and leftover Portuguese culture and a kaleidoscope of natures treasures. My encounter with Silvassa was a chanced one, while I was vacationing in Daman, and was completely stuck by its magic! The tall trees, meandering rivers, large waterfalls, gentle streams, deer and lions, sounds like a set straight from a Bollywood film? Well that’s Silvassa for you! Apart from some serious trips along the forests, strolls by the streams and enjoying the beauty of nature, Silvassa offers some stunning sightseeing options as well. Tribal Cultural Museum, Dudhani Lake, Vasona Lion Safari are a must.

4. Learn A New Skill

Learn several skills. Try cheese-making in Coonoor.

I was taken by surprise by the warm bonhomie, quaint surroundings and the lovely staff at the Acres Wild in Coonoor. The cottages are named after different kinds of cheese and were great. To add to it, they served distinctly flavoured local cheeses for breakfast and they were excellent!

5. Party Your Heart Out

Life is a big party. Dance till it lasts. What better place than Goa?

“Anjuna is famous for its crazy trance parties overlooking the beach and for its flea market. The beach itself is not very charming but there are parties/events always going on at some shack or the other. The most famous places here are Curlies, Shiva Valley and UV bar. The sundowner parties at UV bar are simply fabulous and have great music.

6. Visiting Lake in Leh

Pangong Lake is one of the most beautiful sights in Leh. The spread of blue is endless and it’s a sight to behold. We stayed at the tents and enjoyed the view throughout our 1-day stay. Thankful there are no boating or other activities else I would have completely spoilt the view. However, I trekked up the hill just opposite the lake. The view of the lake from there is awesome. I regret not having clicked pictures from the hill!.

7. Take A Trip With Your Girlfriends

Nothing beats a vacation with your girlfriends – making fools out of yourselves, meeting new people and just laughing about almost anything.

The white rann is extremely beautiful in the winter months. Kutch is a white desert in the months of November and December. A camel ride through moonlit desert is a must.”

8. Challenge Yourself To Something You Would Never Do

Maybe not to the extent of Cheryl Strayed in Wild ?but a surfing or sailing lesson, perhaps? Head to Dwarka.

“The beaches, sunset point and a chance to tackle the waves and play adventure sports is what is great about it.” Since Dwarka is a religious destination, there aren’t many surfing enthusiasts or any surfing schools here. It is advisable to carry your own surfboard.

9. Live Unplugged Like A Hippie In A Village

This is a lovely little village in middle of dense mountain forest the approach is not that great but after reaching it is worth every penny. The place is very refreshing and hospitable villagers.
